Mixing days in Heijen, the Netherlands
For a short time we were back in the Netherlands to replace some bike gear, visit family and friends and work on a couple of songs. We stayed 3 days with friends in the village of Heijen. This gave us some time to do mixing and mastering under better conditions and editing using an better quality Maudio keyboard controller. During the recordings we enjoying some great South African wines and in the evenings we had a great BBQ.. At the end of the week we actually got a couple of songs more in the direction of the status “finished”off. For vocals and naration there was no time, but well that will come at a later stage.
African field recording
In Africa, we did not do much recording, the circumstances were often too primitive to retrieve. We also expected to see a lot of street musicians during our trip through Africa. unfortunately this was not the case. But still, we heard a lot of beautiful close harmony gospel out of the many churches through the land on Sunday. Near Entebbe I made a recording of a swinging brass band, parading down the streets, far in the distance. Nice sound, maybe I can use it for a song.
Mixing session in Kuala Lumpur
Hong Tong Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. It seems to be a perfect place to work on a few songs. But not for long, The local rat decided to take a look how things were going in our room and was running full speed all over the place. I knew where the rat came from, because we had seen him earlier that morning in the restaurant below the hotel. Anyway, we kicked him out and the recordings could begin after this short break. Lol, again not for long. A number of plugins desided to crash in my Sonar DAW, so instead I was busy the whole day to get the program running again
